Our very first newsletter! We’re working on expanding our communication with our membership, and hence, we’re proud to kick off Volume #1 of the “Notes from Glen” newsletter. Our goal is to keep it a casual, short, and fun to read bit on the exciting things we want to share with you. Watch for them to come out once every quarter!
Have you signed in lately? We have updated our site to make it easier for our members to use. Everyone was given a new user name and password and notified by email. If you did not receive them, please contact us at glen@birdershostingbirders.com.
Welcome, G’Day, Bien venue, and Velkommen! We would like to welcome our newest members from around the world, including new friends and fellow Traveling Birders from Denmark, Australia, Germany, Sweden, British Columbia, Ontario, California, Oregon, Texas and South Carolina! We’re glad to have you and look forward to hearing about your birding and hosting experiences.
More goodies to help you plan your trip! We have added an interactive map to our site to make it easier to plan your travels. Simply visit our “View Listings” page and scroll down to the map. If you click on the push-pins on the map, it will open to that members listing.
We will be adding a travel tips page soon to assist you as you plan your travels. If you have any specific tips for traveling birders visiting your area, please let us know. These could include special areas to bird, books that would enhance the travel experience, areas to avoid, and anything else that travelers to your area may benefit from knowing in advance.
The more, the merrier! Join BHB (literally!) at the San Diego Bird Festival! Stop by our booth at the San Diego Bird Festival March 4-7, and say hello. After the festival we will be traveling up the coast to meet with other members and do some birding, (of course). Visit BirdersHostingBirders.com and follow Glen’s Blog.
…and our own travels via BHB.com included a recent trip to the Vancouver area in September. The highlight of our trip was our stay with members in the Vancouver area. We were impressed by how easy it was to contact fellow members through the website to plan our travels. Our only difficulty was ultimately choosing a destination; there are so many members in that area willing to open their homes to fellow traveling birders, that it was a struggle deciding where to spend our time. We will admit to feeling a little apprehensive, asking complete stranger to stay with them for a few days. However, knowing that our hosts, as members, have volunteered to open their homes to birders put us at ease. (more)
Amongst all of that fun, however, we were glad to remember that our trip was grounded in, and ‘powered by’ the good things we know BirdersHostingBirders.com can conjure! We firmly believe that many new friendships and memories are constantly being created through your birding experiences. We’ll soon be asking for your stories and photos, so watch for those requests in the coming months. Until then, enjoy your spring (or fall—depending on which side of the equator you call home!) birding experiences…
Happy Trails,
