BirdersHostingBirders.com began as an idea when my wife, Jennifer, and I were on a trip to the Florida Everglades. We love to travel, and wherever we travel, naturally, we bird. We realized that the birding trips we enjoyed the most were those when we stayed in Bed and Breakfasts, when we got the chance to enjoy the time with the B&B hosts and create new friendships. We then had a vision of finding "B&B hosts",who share our passion of birding, and hence, BirdersHostingBirders.com was born!
As we've grown BirdersHostingBirders.com, we've had three main goals:
- Bring together birders from around the world who enjoy meeting new people and sharing birding locations and experiences.
- Provide an easy to use, intuitive website to help our members 1) meet potential hosts to visit-or-guests to host in their own home, 2) plan their adventure with online tools, and 3) make use of fun, relevant, and valuable resources that contribute to their passion of birding.
- Embrace budget-friendly measures (i.e. low membership fees, budget travel ideas, etc) to ensure birding remains an enjoyable pastime that can be easily sustained over a lifetime.
My background includes 12 years of retail management and the ownership of a Wild Bird Center in Minnesota. When I'm not birding, I also enjoy bicycling, photography and playing with my 3 grandchildren. Jennifer has owned her own business for 20 years and likes to hike, bike and read in her very limited spare time.
